It's done    Finally finished Veela from Truly Myrtle using the most gorgeous yarn (Vintage Purls again!) called Before I Let go.   I was worried that two skeins wouldn't be enough - it was.  So the "end" lace fringe is a LOT longer than the beginning lace fringe but c'est la vie.  Note to self: When you're reaching the end of the skein, don't underestimate how much yarn you will need.  Just one more row turned out to be one more row too many and I was about 1 foot short on the bind off.  Grrrrr.  So it sat, bound off at the end with some waste yarn.  It'll be fine, I thought.  It wasn't.  It would annoy me until the end of time.   So ... unpicked the last two rows.  Frogging bind off is a pain.  Next issue is finding some setting on my phone's camera that reproduces colours as they should be. This yarn is a deep purply maroony red ... not pink.

I had a notion ... To write a blog - someplace to put patterns, knitting, thoughts and probably a lot of pictures of my cat. First up, it's my lattice lace Wingspan .  Such a cool pattern, all maths and angles and calculations.  I'm always amazed how a piece of yarn can be twisted, turned, knitted, purled and transformed into an object.  Essentially one piece of string and voila!  Or, as my Dad would say, Viola! I used "most" of the pattern.  Can't help it really, always likely to play around and change things.  Keeps it interesting. Also I have an aversion to lace patterns on both sides.  For me, that purl row is essential. And such yarn.  Go to Vintage Purls .  Buy yarn. And do subscribe - the pictures of VP cats are such a bonus. This was knitted in Superstar (Aquarius) and Sock (Rees) - slight disparity in weight but I never said I was a knitting purist.
