Kawakawa pattern

My first go at writing out a pattern - eek.     Kawakawa Warmers Finished Size: One size  Yarn: I made these using Pure Wool Entwine 8 ply which says it is a DK 8 ply, but I think it's way more chunky than that. Gauge: 20.0 sts = 4 inches(gauge is not super important) Needles: 4.5mm (US7) Notions: Stitch markers, chocolate  Here's the pattern stitch. Row 1: yo, K2,ssk, K4, P1 Row 2: Knit the purls and purl the knits - so K1, P8 Row 3: K1, yo, K2, ssk, K3, P1 Row 4: As Row 2 Row 5: K2, yo, K2, ssk, K2, P1 Row 6: As row 2 Row 7: K3, yo, K2, ssk, K1, P1 Row 8: As Row 2 Row 9: K4, yo, K2, ssk, P1 Row 10: As row 2 Row 11: K8, P1 The mitts are basically P2, pattern, pattern, P1, pattern, pattern, P1. 4 repeats of pattern with P2 at either end and P2 in the middle. Thumbless Mitts   For simpler mitts without a thumb, Cast on 40 stitches. Knit 6 rows. Mitts and more mitts

I love fingerless gloves/mitts/wristwarmers what ever you might want to call them.  Easy to slip on and still have fingers free. They have to be long enough so there is no gap for nasty draughts to inveigle into but not so long as they become a chore to try and put on.    Oh, and knitted flat.  Always, knitted flat.  I have a very bad relationship with dpns and have tried "magic" loop.  Individually dpns are probably quite nice.  Two of them together work perfectly for I-cord.  But beyond two, they are evil sticks with minds of their own which usually get flung across the room by round 2.  And magic loop?  I am well into Muggle territory with magic loop.    I could (and should) practice and then the wondrous world of small circumference knitting would miraculously open before me.      But until then, I will knit flat.  I started with Forro Wristers from a wonderful book Simply Shetland Lace (available from ...
